Counselling & Therapy with Paul Marshall

"Do not compare, do not measure. No other way is like yours. All other ways deceive and tempt you. You must fulfil the way that is in you." Carl Jung

"The counselling sessions with Paul have been a real help in my journey. This has been my first counselling experience and I am highly recommending it."

Christine

"Paul made me feel welcome and heard, and provided a space for me to learn more about myself. He also helped me learn about boundaries both with other people, but also with myself. Thank you Paul, I hope to one day work with you again."

Peter

“Paul's manner is a calming and reassuring one which enthuses a trust to discuss personal matters that I would rarely share with others.”

James

About me

Before becoming a counsellor I worked in many areas including plumbing and heating, stand-up comedy, poetry, acting and education. This broad experience has given me the opportunity to interact with and get to know people from all walks of life.

I became a counsellor after experiencing first-hand the difference counselling made to my life and relationships. Growing up male in a working-class environment meant that emotions and feelings were not always prioritised or encouraged. Having had therapy myself I now have an understanding of how important it is to get in touch with and fully experience our feelings.

About my approach

I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I draw on different approaches to therapy depending on the client. I strive to be open, respectful and non-judgmental towards my clients and to work together with you to discover unhelpful patterns from the past that have become obstacles to growth.

How can counselling help?

Counselling can help with a range of issues concerning, family, stress, relationships, work, social concerns, anxiety, loss, bereavement, loneliness and depression.

Life brings many challenges, and it is understandable that at times we might look for support in facing them. As a counsellor my role is to provide a space to enable you to examine your life and make new, meaningful choices

within it.

I understand that it can be difficult to find someone to open up to but I will work with you at your own pace with whatever it is that is troubling you.

How it works

I hold in-person, virtual/online sessions, as well as telephone counselling.

In-person sessions are held in a comfortable room in Brighton. Online/virtual sessions are via Zoom.

If you'd like to discuss which option might be best for you, please get in touch.

Fees & availability

Counselling sessions last 50 minutes, usually taking place on a weekly basis, and cost £60 per session. I also provide a limited number of spaces for those on low income or for students; contact me to inquire about availability.

Note that if you want to cancel an appointment I require 48 hours’ notice; otherwise you will still need to pay for any sessions missed. I accept payment in cash, card or by bank transfer.
